Meet Taylor.

I’m Taylor, founder of SomaPoetica: a somatic therapy and sexology practice for individuals and couples seeking a deeper relationship with themselves, their bodies, and the way they move through intimacy, connection, and everyday life.
As a somatic sexologist, artist, and writer, my work is grounded in an ongoing fascination with the language of the body: how we carry emotion, memory, desire, stress, protection, and self-expression physically through sensation, movement, and nervous system patterns.
My background across harm reduction, social support work, disability services, dance, and movement exposed me to the limitations of purely talk-based approaches to healing. I saw how many people could intellectually understand their experiences, yet still feel disconnected from their bodies, relationships, boundaries, pleasure, or sense of self.

SomaPoetica was created in response to this gap — offering a body-based, relational, and accessible therapeutic space that supports clients in developing greater awareness, regulation, embodiment, and connection to their lived experience.
Through somatic therapy and sexology, I work with individuals and couples navigating intimacy, relational patterns, emotional disconnection, nervous system overwhelm, identity, sexuality, boundaries, and the desire to feel more present within themselves and their lives. My approach is collaborative, grounded, and deeply attuned to the uniqueness of each person’s experience.
Across my work in therapy, movement, writing, and art, a common thread remains: a commitment to authentic self-expression and learning to listen to the intelligence of the body.

I’ve worked across the board in the sexual wellness space, and pleasure is always the path to healing.

From frontline sexual violence response, to harm reduction and crisis response in Vancouver’s DTES, sex worker support, sex education, writing sex educational content, hosting a sexual health-focused podcast and many workshops, and now maintaining a one-on-one somatic sex therapy practice, I’ve existed in the sexual health space from all angles.

From all of my roles and training, I’ve seen first-hand how politics, systemic oppression, colonialism, and disconnection from our bodies, can impact our overall well-being, and keep us complacent, in a world that benefits from our exhaustion and numbness.

some more about Taylor...

Taylor Neal (She/They) is Canadian Somatic Sexologist, artist, writer, and yoga/dance instructor, who uses movement and somatics, creation and multimedia to gain deeper understandings of embodied human experience.

Taylor combines her background in dance and performance, her passion for creative and educational writing, and her curiosity within contemporary visual art and photography, with her work as a somatic sexologist, educator, and podcast host. Her studies have included Communications, Art History, Feminist Theory and Design for Theatre at Concordia University, Fashion Design at RMIT University, and Embodied Counselling and Sexological Bodywork at The Institute of Somatic Sexology.

Throughout her time as a frontline social support worker in Vancouver’s DTES, Taylor primarily supported sex workers and survivors of sexual violence in one-on-one and group capacities, throughout which time Taylor underwent many trainings and certifications in mental health, queer and LGBTQIA+ inclusion, harm reduction, sexual violence, working with disabilities, crisis intervention, expressive arts therapies, and much more. Taylor then relocated to Eora/Sydney and continued her social support work with Sydney’s only queer-focused disability support organisation.

Currently, Taylor offers one-on-one somatic therapy & sexology sessions through her private practice SomaPoetica, as well as through Good Vibes Clinic in Sydney.

Her cumulative artistic, somatic, and literary practice comes together as a holistic exploration of identity, movement, sexuality, and how the embodied subject navigates space and the natural world.

Taylor is currently based in Eora/Sydney.

SomaPoetica offers somatic therapy, somatic sexology, and counselling for individuals and couples seeking a deeper connection to themselves, their bodies, relationships, intimacy, and emotional wellbeing.

Grounded in somatics and sexology, sessions support you in understanding the language of your body, exploring how stress, emotion, desire, shame, pleasure, boundaries, and relational patterns are experienced through the nervous system and lived body. Together, we work toward greater awareness, embodiment, regulation, and connection in a way that feels supportive, collaborative, and tailored to your unique experience.

Areas of support: intimacy and relationship concerns, body image, performance anxiety, desire and pleasure, sexual pain, shame, nervous system overwhelm, non-monogamy, sexual trauma, queer and trans experiences, disability, and sex work.

If you’re feeling curious about this work, I invite you to book a free alignment call: a space to connect, ask questions, and explore whether somatic therapy or somatic sexology feels aligned with what you’re currently seeking support for.
